Here at The Swan and Helmet, we have taken a new initiative to become more autism-friendly to ensure we are meeting the needs of all of our autistic visitors.

Millions of people on the autistic spectrum see, hear and feel the world differently to other people, often in a more intense way. We have been motivated and inspired to do this by the National Autistic Society. We strongly believe that our autistic visitors, or the parents and carers of those with autistic needs, will significantly benefit from a Quiet Hour here.

Our Quiet Hour will run on Monday-Thursday between the hours of 4-5 pm and will feature low relaxing music and a dim candle-lit environment. We intend on ensuring reduced noise levels from behind the bar or any other area in the pub.

The customer feedback thus far has been exceptional; most importantly our autistic visitors have expressed great appreciation for creating a space whereby all their needs are being accounted for.
